How do you know which art piece or pieces to pick for your home? I photograph things that I like, that move me, that evokes an emotion or that I know would look perfect in my own home because it has a personal meaning or memory.
Art should do the same for you. A pretty picture is great, but you should invest in art that means something to you and that elicits an emotion or a memory of your own. Maybe a beach you spent time at with a family member or friend or maybe a city that you have always dreamt of going to. You will be looking at that piece of art daily and it's important that it brings you joy and you have a connection to it.
Colors and subject matter can play a role as well, but if you don't know what fits in your home or even what you "should" pick, choose the one that gives you a little "spark" of inspiration.
